Beta Carotene
STRENGTH: 25,000 IU
FORM: 100 Softgels
Benefits
- Beta-carotene has been shown to prevent night blindness and other eye problems.
- It is used today to treat some skin disorders, such as acne.
- Beta-carotene also performs functions in the body that may help to prevent artery blockages and may lower the risk of heart disease.
- It may also lower cancer risk by inhibiting degenerate cell proliferation.
- It acts as an antioxidant, and because of this it is important in slowing down the aging process.
- It is also very important in the healing process.
Beta-carotene is a carotenoid pigment
precursor to the essential fat
soluble Vitamin A. Beta-carotene is one of those nutrients that
is important in our diet because it performs so many needed
functions that help to maintain our health. Beta-carotene has
been shown to prevent night blindness and other eye problems,
and is used today to treat some skin disorders, such as acne.
Beta-carotene also performs functions in the body that may help
to prevent artery blockages, and may lower the risk of heart
disease. Some studies show that vitamin A may also lower the
risk of developing cancer, by inhibiting degenerate cell
proliferation. Beta-carotene acts as an antioxidant, and because
of this it is important in slowing down the aging process. It is
necessary for new cell growth and helps to protect against
cancer and other cellular anomalies that are genetic, or that
are caused by free radicals. And since protein cannot be
utilized by the body without the presence of Beta-carotene, it
is also very important in the healing process. The largest organ
in the body `the skin` needs Beta-carotene (Vitamin A) to retain
moisture, which helps keep it healthy and smooth. A deficiency
may be the culprit if you have chronic dry hair or skin, dryness
of the conjunctiva or cornea and slow growth during childhood.
Sub clinical dietary deficiencies are probably more common than
we realize due to the poor dietary habits that we find prevalent
in today’s society. Recent studies have shown that men who have
a deficiency of Vitamin A may run a higher risk of developing
prostate cancer. Other deficiencies may show up as abscesses in
the ears; insomnia; fatigue; reproductive difficulties;
sinusitis, pneumonia, frequent colds, respiratory infections;
skin disorders (including acne) and weight loss. So, taking
Beta-carotene may protect against problems with the bones and
teeth, and the immune system by protecting against colds,
influenza, infections of the kidneys, bladder, lungs and other
mucous membranes.†
