This acronym is used by the government, and stands for The United States Pharmacopeia (USP); it is the official public standard-setting authority for all prescription and over-the-counter medicines, some dietary supplements such as amino acids and several other ingredients. You can get a full description of this standard and what it applies to at www.usp.org. When an ingredient is labeled as ‘USP material’ it means that it has met a high standard of quality that has been set by the government for it. It is the highest quality standard that can be set for an ingredient in terms of purity; there are other standards that also show that an ingredient has met a high quality standard such a FCC grade. When applying these standards it proves that independent testing has been done to validate the ingredient, and a review of the outcome has been performed to verify the ingredients integrity, purity, and potency is where is should be.

Do you test raw materials and finished products to make sure they meet label claim?
